Academic Upgrading at Cambrian College

There's a place for you at Cambrian College whether or not you have a high school diploma.

  • Do you want to upgrade your math, English, science, or computer skills?
  • Do you want to prepare yourself for a postsecondary program or apprenticeship?
  • Do you want to improve your job opportunities and employment skills?
  • Do you want to go back to school in an adult environment to increase your independence?
  • Do you want to obtain a grade 12 equivalency (Academic and Career Entrance Certificate)?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Cambrian College’s Academic Upgrading program may be for you.

If you are considering changing careers, re-entering the job market, or seeking the necessary postsecondary and skills training to enter the job market for the first time, this program is your first step towards reaching your goals.

This highly flexible program is designed to meet the individual needs of adult students. Individual timetables and courses of study are developed to accommodate the student's training needs and personal schedule. You will have an opportunity to develop productive study habits, to practice speaking more effectively, and to learn key employability skills such as critical thinking, team building, and problem-solving.

ACE - Academic and Career Entrance Certificate

Don't have a high school diploma but want to pursue employment and educational opportunities? Enrol in Cambrian College’s  Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate offered through Academic Upgrading to obtain your grade 12 equivalency. The ACE Certificate is:

  • Recognized as an equivalent to an OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) by all Ontario community colleges.
  • Accepted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as a grade 12 equivalency for Apprenticeships.
  • Accepted by a number of employers as a grade 12 equivalency.
